Terms of Service

XPECT is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. By creating an account or continuing to use XPECT, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

XPECT lets you enter private Instagram username choices and detects when two people have chosen each other. A choice is visible only to the person who made it. An identity is revealed only when both people chose each other and both have verified ownership of the Instagram username they claimed.

To prove you control an Instagram username, you send one direct message from that Instagram account to the official XPECT Instagram account. XPECT then receives a signed event from Meta and resolves it to confirm the username.

XPECT is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. XPECT depends on third-party platforms it does not control, and verification may be affected by changes or outages on those platforms.

XPECT grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose. XPECT and its operator retain all rights in the service, its design, branding, code, content, and features. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.

You are responsible for keeping your account secure, for providing accurate information, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not share your account or use it on behalf of someone else.

You may not use XPECT to:

• impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or Instagram ownership;
• harass, abuse, or threaten anyone;
• scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the service;
• interfere with the service or attempt to identify or contact users who did not mutually match;
• use the service for any illegal purpose or on behalf of someone who is not eligible to use it.

Standard and Premium plans provide fixed-term access for a stated price and duration. They are not subscriptions and do not renew automatically. Your access continues until the plan's expiry date; no further charges are made unless you explicitly choose to purchase another plan.

Standard and Premium are fixed-term, one-time purchases processed by Stripe. They do not renew automatically. Payments are generally final and non-refundable. Refunds may be provided where required by applicable law, for duplicate or unauthorized charges, or if XPECT materially fails to provide the purchased service.

XPECT may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the service, or create risk for other users. If your account is terminated, your right to use the service ends immediately, including any remaining paid access. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, payments, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.

XPECT may modify, interrupt, or discontinue the service at any time. XPECT does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every device, or that the service will always be available.

The service is provided "as is." XPECT does not guarantee that you will receive a mutual match, a response, or any particular outcome from using the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, XPECT's aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of USD $100 or the amount you paid to XPECT during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

XPECT's data handling is described in the Privacy Policy and the Privacy Promise.

XPECT may update these Terms from time to time. The current version and effective date are shown below. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
